The NHRA Canadian National Open John Scotti Stock/Super Stock Series continued in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on September 1st for another exhilarating weekend. In total, 26 cars competed for the series over the weekend at the 1/8 mile drag strip.

On day one, the winner was Bill Ervin in his SS/AA 1969 Chevrolet Corvette with an ET of 5.819 @ 111.83 mph on a dial-in of 5.76 and the runner-up was Kelly MacKay in his D/SA 1971 Dodge Demon with an ET of 6.741 @ 99.70 mph on a dial-in of 6.72.

On day two, the winner was Trevor Ervin in his ’70 Chevy Nova with an ET of 6.744 on a dial-in of 6.71. The runner-up was Dave Casey in his ’69 Chevy Corvette with an ET of 6.402 on a dial-in of 6.41.

Rob Flynn Sets Record at NHRA Carolina Nationals

At the 15th Annual Betway NHRA Carolina Nationals, 2017 Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame inductee, Rob Flynn, was instrumental in achieving a major milestone. Mike Salinas set the first-ever 300 mph run at the eighth mile in drag racing history at North Carolina’s zMAX Dragway on Saturday, driving his Top Fuel dragster tuned by none other than Rob Flynn. Furthermore, Salinas registered 300.80 mph in 2.936 seconds in the first 660 feet of the run, earning him the $30,000 bonus provided by Phillips Connect Technologies.
