From August 4th to 6th, Gérard Milette participated in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Northeast Division held at Maple Grove Raceway, alongside his partner Suzanne-Ghézabelle Poirier, a crew chief and mechanic.
Together, they competed with their acclaimed SG racing Chevrolet Corvette Top Sportsman racecar. The duo achieved a remarkable victory by surpassing the competition of 24 other Top Sportsman racers. Their outstanding teamwork even led them to the final round, where they triumphed over their contender, Brandon Miller.
Gérard’s qualifying numbers were 6.970 at 198.64 miles an hour with a reaction time of .002 in the first round. In the second qualifier, his numbers were 6.972 at 197.62 mph and he had a reaction time of .003. In his third qualifier, he ran 6.970 at 199.08 mph and had a reaction time of .009. He was very consistent in his qualifications and chose a dial-in of 7.00.
Gérard Milette is a 2017 Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame Inductee and we are honoured to have him, especially after he added yet another chapter to his storied legacy with this remarkable achievement. His skills, accomplishments, and unyielding passion for the sport have left an indelible mark on the world of drag racing.
