Jacques Marier – Repentigny, QC

About

Jacques Marier made his drag racing debut in 1967, driving a 1962 Chevy Nova.

He turned professional in 1971, winning the IHRA Grand National at St. Eugene dragway with his Camaro Z/28 302 b.p. and setting a world record in the stock class. Just at the dawn of a promising career, he participated in several events at the now-defunct Grand National in Sanair, as well as in several programs in the United States.

Marier has owned a performance garage and parts distributor since 1971-JM RACING, the oldest speed shop in Quebec. He puts all his experience to good use, helping other racers use the right parts.

He's back with a vengeance with his new Trans Am SD455, setting two new world records in the Pure Stock category in New Hampshire in 2003 and 2005 as part of the IHRA organization.

In 2011, he acquired a magnificent Firebird Trans Am 2000 built by F. J. Smith Performance and set another NHRA world record in the B/SA category in 2014. He took part in the prestigious US National event in Indianapolis in 2012, where 200 competitors in this category vied for moments of glory. Marier was one of the few Quebecers present at this event.

Despite his 67 years, Marier can be seen at his business six days a week, dispensing his sound advice and sharing his love for the sport he has always cherished.
