David Anthony
About
With a remarkable 50-year career in drag racing, Dave has become a cornerstone of the sport in the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland and Labrador. Known for his competitive edge, Dave has won numerous track championships and has held track records across Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick.
His skills on the national stage include reaching the semifinals at the English Town Summer Nationals and winning an impressive seven NHRA National Open wallies in the top dragster class with multiple runner-up finishes. Beyond racing, Dave has dedicated years to advancing drag racing in Newfoundland. Starting in 1997, he took on the essential role of managing Clarenville Dragway for 19 years.
Dave's leadership involved overseeing staffing, securing sponsorships, maintaining timing systems, and directing every event. When the Clarenville Dragway operations closed to support the new eastbound dragway, Dave's commitment to the sport led him to co-found the Newfoundland and Labrador Drag Racing Association, where he has served as president since its inception.
Under his guidance, the association has become a driving force in promoting and expanding drag racing within the province. Dave's dedication to drag racing, both on and off the track, exemplifies his passion for the sport and his role as a foundational figure in the Newfoundland drag racing community.
